Florida passes 911 Good Samaritan bill
If you're in Florida, and one of your friends looks like they're dying from a drug overdose, starting Oct 1, 2012 you can call 911 and not worry about getting arrested for drug possession when help arrives.

Florida is now the 6th state in the US to enact Call 911 Good Samaritan Laws, which provide protections for those calling 911 in the event of an overdose. The other states are Washington, New York, Illinois, New Mexico, and Connecticut.
Most of these bills have very narrow protections, primarily against arrest for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. If you gave or sold the drug to your friend who ends up overdosing you are still at risk. If you are in possession of large-ish quantities you still will likely face some risk. If your friend ends up dying and you gave them the drugs you will likely be charged with manslaughter. If you have an outstanding warrant, you're still fucked. This isn't the end-all be-all, but it's definitely something. You at least don't have to worry about getting popped just because you have a small baggie of weed, a couple pills, or a dirty needle on you, and that's good.
So yeah, yay Florida!
