The original DanceSafe testing kit. Tests for the presence of MDxx, DXM, 2C-B, speed and more. Ships in 48-72 hours from time of order.
The Marquis Reagent is a mixture of concentrated sulfuric acid and formaldehyde. The Marquis Reagent is a very good field test for a wide variety of substances.
Color reactions:
- MDxA - purple to black
- Speed - orange
- DXM - grey to black, releases a slight bit of smoke
- 2C-B - Yellow to green over 30 seconds
- 2C-T-x - Orange to salmon
- MDPV, methylone - Yellow
- 6-APB - Rusty brown
The color reactions for MDMA, MDA, and MDEA are the same purple to black. Methamphetamine and amphetamine are the same orange. MDPV and methylone are the same yellow. You can then use the Simon's Reagent to tell the difference between MDA and MDMA/MDEA, or between methamphetamine and amphetamine, or between MDPV and methylone. MDEA is relatively rare.
Testing Instructions:
IMPORTANT: Never have more than one reagent bottle open at a time. If you mix up the caps and put the wrong cap on the wrong reagent bottle, this may cross-contaminate the reagents. Be sure and perform the tests in a well-lighted location.
Use the Marquis reagent to determine whether your pill contains an ecstasy-like substance (MDMA, MDA, or MDE).
- Scrape a tiny bit of your pill onto a large, white ceramic plate (an amount about the size of the head of a pin is fine). If you have a gel cap, just use a small amount of the powder.
- Take the reagent bottle out of the plastic safety container. Remove the cap and turn it upside-down over the powder. In a few seconds a drop will come out.
- Observe the color change right away. Use the Marquis color chart and the Marquis color change descriptions below to evaluate your test.
- Turn the bottle back upright, close the lid tightly, and put it back into the plastic safety container.
If the powder contains an ecstasy-like substance (MDMA, MDA, or MDE), the reagent will immediately turn purple/black. This is a positive test for an ecstasy-like substance.
If this happens, proceed to Simon's reagent, to determine whether your pill contains MDA, or whether it contains MDMA or MDE.
DXM, the cough suppressant, will usually not react for the first 5 seconds or so, and then will emit a puff of smoke and slowly turn grey/black over 30 seconds or more. This indicates you definitely do not have an ecstasy-like substance in your pill. There are no more tests to perform, so go ahead and clean up with soap and water.
Amphetamine and methamphetamine, aka speed or crystal, turn a bright orange color in the first 20 seconds. You definitely do not have an ecstasy-like substance in your pill. You can proceed to the Simon's Reagent to differentiate between amphetamine and methamphetamine.
2C-B will turn a bright greenish-yellow in about 20 seconds. This indicates you definitely do not have ecstasy or speed in your pill. There are no more tests to perfom, so go ahead and clean up with soap and water.
Note: If the reagent turns a violet color (reddish-purple, not bluish-purple) within 20 seconds, this may indicate the presence of an opiate drug, such as codeine, although it could be something else. Either way, it is definitely not ecstasy, speed, or 2C-B. There are no more tests to perform, so wash up with soap and water.
If the reagent does not change any color during the first 30 seconds, or if it produces some other color-change sequence, then the pill definitely does not contain any of the above substances. It may also be highly adulterated with one or more unknown substances. There are no more tests to perform, so go ahead and clean up with soap and water.
Handling Instructions:
The Marquis Reagent is primarily sulphuric acid, and is strong enough to burn skin and clothing. Keep out of eyes and mouth. Wear latex gloves when handling the bottle and cap. If you get some on you then wash quickly with soap and water. Wash testing surfaces with soap and water as well. Dispose of any unwanted reagent down the sink with running water and baking soda.
Marquis Reagent can only determine the PRESENCE, not QUANTITY, of a particular substance. MDxx reactions will tend to override reactions to other substances also in the pill. A positive or negative reaction for a substance does not indicate that a drug is safe. No drug use is 100% safe. Make good decisions.
